
Whitey Somers has performed his songs to appreciative audiences, from clubs and theaters to festivals and more.
Where he shines is as a songwriter. Whitey’s songs are a reflection of life and times through Canadian eyes. A journeyman with a lifetime of stories. A well-seasoned singer and performer that can hit all the right notes.
As a nephew of Juno award-winning Canadian composer Harry Somers, Whitey found an early love of music. Having lived in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and now residing in Shaunavon Saskatchewan, traveling and life have been his teachers.
He’s placed in numerous album charts and songwriting competitions over the years, including taking third place in the 2025 International Songwriters Day Song Contest for his song "A Free Man" and being nominated by The Elite Music Awards as 2025 Songwriter of the year. Whitey won the "Road To Memphis" competition in Saskatoon, and went on to represent the Saskatoon Blues Society at The International Blues Challenge on Beale St. in Memphis, January 2026. Most recently, His song "Gone" has been included in the upcoming movie "The Killer Balloon: 'Til Death Do Us Part".
