SaskJazz Outreach Programs

Outreach is an important part of the SaskJazz mission, vision, and annual programming, which includes fostering, promoting, and presenting jazz music to the people of Saskatchewan. In the past, we have offered two outreach programs, Jazz in Schools and Carehome Outreach.

Carehome Outreach

Sponsored by Aspira Retirement Living, the Carehomes Outreach Program brings live jazz performances to care and retirement homes across Saskatoon during the festival each July. Featuring Saskatchewan artists, the program helps make music more accessible by bringing the joy of live performance directly to residents.

Care homes are welcome to contact shannon@saskjazz.com to schedule an outreach concert at no cost.

Jazz in Schools

The Jazz in Schools Program provides an educational jazz experience to high school students in Saskatoon. Led by professional bassist and educator Emmett Fortosky, participants of Jazz in Schools take part in a specialized jazz workshop and are encouraged to register for the University of Saskatchewan Jazz Intensive.

(Jazz in Schools participants also receive a discount for the Jazz Intensive!)
