Over the years the SYJO has performed annually at many Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra concerts, at TCU Place on New Year's Eve, at U of S Jazz Ensemble performances, conventions, closing their season with performances at the Jazz Festival.

The band continues to play a wide variety of music running the gamut from traditional big band swing to more contemporary/fusion sounds, including Latin jazz. The SYJO gives students the opportunity to improve their musicianship and develop their improvisation skills, often featuring instrumentalists and vocalists.
