FunkJoint, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is a funk, jazz, and R&B minded band that revels in tight jams and the spirit of improvisation.
Our live shows are energetic, fun, and put together with a purpose that's focused on musicality and authenticity. No gimmicks, just quality accessible music that audiences enjoy whether familiar or not! FunkJoint has released two 5-track EPs to date with many unreleased tunes in the wings for future release. We also play a large repertoire of classic and modern funk, jazz, and R&B covers.
Originally founded as a duo between keyboardist Sauvelm McClean and drummer Graham Templeman, FunkJoint has evolved a collective approach to musical writing and performance that since early 2018 has garnered hometown recognition and grown to include talented and like-minded musicians Steve Maier on guitar, Adam Streisel on trumpet, and Nathan Degenhart on saxophones. Some major influences for FunkJoint include Ghost-Note, Lettuce, Louis Cole, Cory Wong, Budos Band, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, The Meters, D'angelo, Sly and the Family Stone, to name a few.
This show is part of The SaskTel Free Stage at Victoria Park. Saskatchewan Talent is presented by SaskMusic.
