The line-up of Blue Umbrella will be familiar to Saskatchewan music fans, featuring Sam Corbett (Sheepdogs, NUTANA), Tyson McShane (Slow Down Molasses, Portals), Luke Ryalls (Fjords), Burke Barlow (Deep Dark Woods).

The twist is that these well-known musicians are playing with lead singer-songwriter Ryan Meili, better known for his Saskatchewan medical and political career.

Their upcoming album, Recklessly Yours, produced by Corbett and recorded at Rec Hall Studios in Saskatoon, features songs best described as Canadian folk-rock. The name Blue Umbrella comes from a 1975 song by John Prine, which hints at Meili’s influences and style of clever, introspective lyrics. The musicians bring a wide range of influences and their own well-developed styles to the arrangements. The result is a collection of songs that range from sweet and simple acoustic to hooky, driving rock.

This show is part of The SaskTel Free Stage at Victoria Park. Saskatchewan Talent is presented by SaskMusic.
