ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Lauryn Hill

$70 early bird, $80 regular, $90 day of /// TD Mainstage /// 7PM /// Opener: Special Guest

Born in New Jeresy it was obvious from a young age that Ms. Hill possessed extraordinary talents, abilities, and the propensity for creativity. She would eventually establish her own musical categories, incorporating hip-hop, R&B, and even classical. She would establish a reputation in the music world as the lone female member of The Fugees, whose record sales would make them the second largest selling R&B act worldwide since Michael Jackson. She launched her solo career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which earned a record-breaking five GRAMMY Awards. Ms. Lauryn Hill returns to Saskatoon after her 2014 debut show, which sold out in only 4 hours.

Metric

$55 early bird, $65 regular, $75 day of /// TD Mainstage /// 8PM /// Opener: Special Guest

Life is beautiful. The world is cruel. Music still matters. Metric have wrestled with these truths for 15 years, but their new album, Pagans in Vegas, takes them on in an entirely new way. Six LPs into an inspiring career that's seen them collaborate with legends like Lou Reed, perform with the Rolling Stones, entertain the Queen of England, become the first band in history to score their first Top 20 commercial radio hit in the U.S. without the backing of an outside label, win a plethora of awards including Junos for Album of the Year and Artist of the Year, pen the theme song for Twilight: Eclipse with Howard Shore (for which the music garnered nominations for both an Oscar and a GRAMMY), release an interactive app directly to fans, and set up an esoteric toll-free number for their dedicated listeners to navigate the past and future of their music, Metric have their creative process on lock. But nothing about Pagans in Vegas came together like any other Metric record. Metric played to a sold out crowd at the 2013 festival.

Truck Band

$55 early bird, $65 regular, $75 day of /// TD Mainstage /// 8PM /// Opener: Corey Harris

Formed in 2010 with a spirit of adventure that saw Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks shelve their equally successful solo careers, Tedeschi Trucks Band, a 12-piece tour-de-force, has quickly become the vanguard of modern roots music. Driven by Trucks, #16 of the top 100 Guitarists of All Time (Rolling Stone), and Tedeschi, blessed with a voice that passionately delivers a range of powerful R&B belters to gentle ballads, the group enlists dual drummers, two vocalists, a three-piece horn section, bass, and a multi-instrumentalist keyboard player for what is a greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts collective. With guitarist Derek Trucks’ departure from The Allman Brothers Band final at the end of 2014, the band has fully dedicated itself to expanding its legendary live performances and finishing their third studio album, Let Me Get By. This will be a debut show for the Tedeschi Trucks Band in Saskatoon.
