SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival: If you could only listen to three albums for the rest of your life—what would they be?
LK: Les Filles de Illighadad – Fatou Seidi + Alamnou Akrouni; Paul Simon – The Essential Paul Simon; Tom Waits – Real Gone.

SSJF: What did 10-year old you want to be when you grew up? Do you remember why?
LK: Detective because of a TV Show in Austria called ‘Commissar Rex’ featuring a dog as a detective.

SSJF: How would you describe ‘high school you’ in three words?
LK: Keyboard suddenly bass.

SSJF: One person you were surprised to find out is a fan?
LK: Shabaka Hutchings.

SSJF: What, if anything, is your most treasured possession?
LK: My guembri (moroccan bass instrument).

SSJF: Why do you live where you do?
LK: Vienna is the best and most liveable city in the world, especially if you have kids.

SSJF: What do you think of when you think of Saskatoon?
LK: The shaking of my fingers because of the fear of mis-spelling the city’s name 🙂

SSJF: What has been your most memorable or inspirational gig and why?
LK: Whooo, hard to choose, many great moments there! Shake Stew premiere at Jazzfestival Saalfelden—that was magical! Trio gig at the Orbit in Johannesburg because of the unique atmosphere. Also a Shake Stew show in Morocca at Jazz au Chellah last year—what a vibe!

SSJF: What has been your strangest celebrity encounter?
LK: I met Siegfried and Roy at the Austrian Hospice of the holy family in the old town of Jerusalem.

SSJF: If you weren’t playing music you would be…
LK: Trying to find out why I am not doing what I most love!
